Inquiry

Explain the invention progress:Well first we started off getting all the materials like the socks and jandals. Then we cut off the top of the sock so it is an ankle sock.Next we gave the jandals to Mr Tyson so he can saw them to our foot size because they were my sisters ones. After that we started painting under the jandal and on the sock so it looked tropical. Then I went home and glued them with hot glue gun.

The most enjoyable part was:Painting them.It was fun painting them because we got to paint pineapples, tropical trees and the sunset.

I think the hardest part was:Writing the description because I haunt made my invention yet and we had to describe it.

If I was to do it again I would:try my hardest to get in the finals to meet the dragons and show my creation to them.

The most boring part was:Waiting for Mr Tyson to cut the jandals because there was a whole line of people.

The most funny part was:When we had to get the top rubber bit off but it wouldn't work with scissors so I came up with the idea of sawing it off with a ruler.

The easiest part was hot glue gun because my dad helped me with it and he was quick at putting the glue on the jandal.

What felt like talking to the dragons. It was quite nerve racking because I have never done that before.

The most messy part was.when we were cutting up the socks to be ankle size

                                 Buggie Survey
This term for our inquiry topic we have been studying and learning about buggies also known as prams for babies. We have been going around the school and collecting data with questions we have made on Google docs.We get atleast 5 sheets of the survey we made and interview mothers or fathers with prams or if they got a toddler. We go out before the bell goes because that is when they are there. We had to go in a group of 2 or 3 and I went with Danelle.

Math

                                                                 MATH

Last week for math we did a grid thing that we had to work out the coordinates and use a compass. We had to rite down a question and ask someone to try and work it out. Here is a picture of it in my book.
Here is the back where the answers to the questions are.

The work i have been doing in my group is ratios.Ratios are for knowing how much you need if you double or triple or anything like for example

In a pool you need 3 litres of water and 2 cups of chlorine in the pool so as a ratio it will look like this.

                                                    3:2
and if you were to triple it all you do is 3x3 and 2x3.So the answer would be:                       9:6

Trip to corban estate.

                                            Corban Estate Art trip.

"Yay!!" We finally made it to the Corban estate art trip that we were driving to forever! Vroom. The enormous bus parked on the big concrete drive. As we made it into The Corban Estate building,We went into a oom with loads of tables to make our creations on. There was interesting art work n the bench next to the instructor,Amy.As she talked an art creator came to the front and explained that he was the one that made the artwork i was determind to check out.The art creator was called Andrew Hall.He started crafting stuff and collecting stuff that people see as rubbish and made something out of them since he was 4 years old.Yesterday i enjoyed that as i was making my creation, which was a snake.I came up with more and more ideas. It was challenging making the snake because it was really long.Even longer than me!But my dad helped me a bit.If i was to do it again i would maybe think of more and more ideas to make it look better!

Rapunzel

                            Rapunzel
Rapunzel!!! Rapunzel!!! Today we went to the hall to watch a rapunzel show. But it had a little twist in it because they put Simon Cowell in it.But instead of Simon Cowell they did Simon cow.But his real name was Jack.He has a cow costume on so the name matched the outfit.Rapunzels real name was Jane and rupee was Ben.Simon cow and Rupee was a lot of different characters.Like pinokio. It has a twist in it because they had x factor.I liked it because it had x factor. The show was 1 hour long. Then it finished.

wearable art journey

Wearable Art Journey!!♡♥♡♥♡♥:D
Monday
9am
Today we are going to start making our wearable art clothes.Like tshirt, shorts, dress, skirt or even a hat.

Afternoon

Today we started making our wearable art clothes like skirt, t-shirts, shorts and more.I found out that stapling the plastic bags and newspaper onto my plastic bag dress would be hard.I wondered that if I put it on it would break apart but it didn't.The most challenging bit is going to be stapling the stuff on.Now I need to staple the rest of the newspaper on and the plastic bags.Tomorrow I will start make a hat to match my dress. The most fun bit was trying it on to see if it looked good.

Tuesday
On wearable art this is my design so far.
Today I need to work on :
●sticking the paper on.
●Stapling the plastic bags.
●Add on a pair of shoes.
●Adding the leaves on.

Wednesday
9:05am
Yesterday I completed the top of my dress by adding more newspaper around the top with some help from graces mum.I had difficulty with the stapling the newspaper because I was doing it by myself.I found out that instead of sticking paper bags on it I should add leaf shaped plastic on. So will look more like a earth element and then i stuck them on the bottom of the dress.Working by myself is fun because I can think of more ideas and do it the way I want the dress to look like.My outfit reflects my element because I cut plastic into leave shapes.I also put on green feathers so it's earth and I have a green feathery hat.The torbay learning model helps me because it says plan so I think and organise.

Thursday 9:20am

Overall I feel that the dress didn't turn out the way I planned and it came out much better. The biggest success was that it looks earthy so I have the right element. My most enjoyable part was sticking on the feathers because they really show my element. It shows my element because it is green and feathery. The hardest was sticking the leaves on my dress because I was wearing the dress so I couldn't really see where I was sticking them on.If I was to do this again I won't change a thing.Because I think it looks exactly like earth.I have learnt that when you make something it doesn't turn out the way you think. The plan changes and it ends up you don't do what you planned.

                    New Guinea Pig
Bam!I banged the door shut.I finally arrived home from my sisters enormous school. My dad was saying that the guinea pigs got soaked from the horrible weather.I peered in the new brown box.As i looked in i saw a tiny figure laying on the rough hay.It was a new born baby guinea pig! After a while we came up with the name jack.

After a Long boring weekend I had a go at carrying Jack. When i tried and i grabbed him,he started doing a deafening cry for Frankie, the mum.I put him back and he stopped immediately. As i kept on holding him repeatingly he went quieter and quieter.I saw the mum cuddle him a lot and they would have no idea i was watching.

Now Jack does not cry that much anymore and Frankie doesn't mind.Sometimes I see them snuggle up together and doze for a bit.As Jack got older and stronger he kind of seperated from Frankie.”I cant wait to have another guinea pig!”I say to my mum in a excited way.

When jack turned 1 week old his ginger started to spread, over the brown and white like a poisonous gas that killed millions of people in world war 1.But Frankie stayed the same,Black and White.

Now that Jack is a bit older, his ginger has stopped spreading.”Next time i get guinea pigs i hope they are fluffy like Jack is!!”

                                                           Honey bees.

Honeybees are insects that collect honey and give it to the baby bees. They make honey by collecting pollen and nectar. Then they take it back to their hive and start working working on it.In a hive they form colony's to protect their hive and their queen bee.

The queen bee in the hive that makes baby bees called larva's.Some
of the baby larva's get fed royal jelly.

Squash reflection

                       Squash reflection
This term we have been learning about squash. When I started doing squashing wasnt that good but then as weeks passed doing squash I got better.I liked doing squash because it was like tennis but better. There were a lot of activities we did at squash like we played squickit.Squickit is squash and cricket combined together. We versed people and did partner games.I learned how to hold the handle properly and how to serve.

Music with Mrs m reflection.

Music with Mrs m was so fun I have gotten better at music. We learned how to use team rakau sticks and then we made them with magazines and we put co, bored tape to make them look better and stay as a circle to decorate them. After that we would go into groups and make up our own music. In music with Mrs m I learned that when we do music we have to relax and do music and try and concentrate on music when doing it.

guinea pigs report

                        Guinea pig report
Here is a link to my animal report about guinea pigs.
And down here is the story.
Guinea pigs are one of the cutest and best pets you could have.Guinea pigs are also a good pet because people like there style and the way they walk.Guinea pigs are from the rodent  family not from a pig family just because they are called guinea pigs.Guinea pigs are also sometimes called the cavi.Guinea pigs are originally from the Andes Mountains in South America.

A guinea pig name for a male is boar and a female guinea pig is called a sow and a baby guinea pig is called a pup.To know that a guinea pig is happy they make a purring noise.Guinea pigs are vegetarians and they eat all day and night. When guinea pigs sense the owner near by they will sqeak to get the owners attention.

Guinea pigs do not bite for defence but they bite because they think that A persons hand is food.

When guinea pigs are pregnant they have to be separated from each other so the male doesn't mate with the baby when it is to young.Pregnant guinea pigs are pregnant for 70 days or from 1 to 10 weeks.Baby guinea pigs can only mate when they are from 15 weeks old.Guinea pigs can have up to 4 baby pups and they can have more but it's no healthy.Guinea pigs can have double birth that means that they give birth to a litter and about a month or 2 later they have another baby that is bit bigger.

Capacity.

                                                                  Capacity
Today I was learning about capacity in math.We had measuring cups and some cups to put water in.We where only aloud 5 cups and 1 measuring cup. When we got the 5cups we had to put them in order with biggest to smallest in numbers. When we got it all set up I wondered if the Pringles where bigger and wider than the cube container but I left it like that.

But after a while we fild up all the containers to see how much litres and ml it used. And in the end, I found out that the Pringles had 950ml of water in it and the cube container could fit 1 litre in.In the end we put all the containers in the right place and order.I enjoyed putting the water in and out in and out of the containers.I didn't enjoy that at the end we couldn't do more measuring and doing capacity. When we finished, instead of chucking the water down the sink we put the water on the butterfly garden so it doesn't go to waste.

It was tricky getting the water out of the Pringles container in to the measuring cup so we could do the next one.
Here is a link to the padlet about capacity and what we learned about it.

           Wednesday 18th of June 2014
Recently Room 2 has been having squash lessons in the hall.Squash is a game where you have a big empty room and you have rackets that look like tennis rackets but its squash rackets. We also had a ball that we had to hit on the wall.First the  instructor told us the instructions and we got ready.Next we got split into 2 groups. One with Mrs Kilkolly then another with the instructor. Then we paired up into buddies and one by one we played squash. At one point we had to verse the instructor and when it was my go I stood on the instructors foot.Everyone started laughing.I can't wait to have another squash lesson!!

      Tread lightly caravan
This week we have been learning about sustainability and how to stop climate change.I hope people can change how climate change works and make the world live longer. There was a small lamp and it barely used any energy but the kettle was impossible! It used so much energy. Now I know that we shouldn't use much kettles to boil water. My next step is to use less electricity than I am using now.I enjoyed trying to make the electricity work. The fun part was trying to get the kettle to work. Here is a to a fun website called environmental footprint

Note taking about bees

                                           Note taking about bees

This week we have been note taking about bees. There are 30,000 to 60, 000  bees in a single hive but there are is only 1 queen bee
there. All the worker bees are female and they collect nectar and pollen to make honey and give some to the baby larvae's.Around 9 of them get fed royal jelly and when they have hatched they fight to their death.in the end there will only be 1 or 2 bees left that are the strongest and that one becomes the queen                                     bee.

Click here to learn more about them.
